Woolsong Beneath the Moon is inspired by Dubwool, the soft, gentle Pokémon beloved for its round, snow-white body and calm temperament. In this piece, Dubwool is reimagined as a symbol of sanctuary and dreamlike comfort. A sleeping child nestles into the warmth of the woolly creature’s embrace, and the circular composition evokes the image of a woven nest—suggesting protection, renewal, and growth.

Elements such as the curled horns, floppy ears, and braided tufts retain Dubwool’s signature charm, while subtly blending into the child’s own braids. This seamless fusion implies an intimate connection between the child and their spiritual companion. The sculpture maintains the natural tone of camphor wood, enhanced with soft beige coloring to mimic the layered, cloud-like texture of wool—inviting tactile empathy and awakening a deep sense of calm in the viewer.

The piece also resonates with Indigenous Taiwanese symbolism of “blankets, weaving, and textile traditions.” For many Indigenous groups, a woven blanket represents more than warmth—it embodies lineage, maternal protection, and ancestral presence. In this dreamscape, Dubwool becomes a spirit-mother figure, enveloping the child in a safe haven where growth and healing can unfold.
