Heterogeneous Dimension – Solo Exhibition by His Chi WU
Listening to the waves crashing along Taiwan’s eastern coast and tracing the mountain ridgelines undulating across the island, His Chi Wu enters a meditative state—where thought becomes intention, intention becomes sensation, and sensation becomes belief. Floating above human consciousness and interaction, his creative spirit remains pure and at ease.
Through a unique life perspective, Wu fuses his true self with nature. He has spent years refining his practice with bold oil pastels and a well-honed technique. German artist Paul Klee once said, “Drawing is taking a line for a walk,” capturing the essence of art as a gateway to another dimension. Wu harnesses his innate intuition, vivid sense of color, and expressive layering to merge human figures with environments using flowing lines and color blocks. Within the same visual field, he presents multiple viewpoints that blur the boundaries of space and time, constructing an invisible temporal realm—focused on the soul and fate beneath outer appearances, forming a fantastical world of “Heterogeneous Dimensions.”
In his “Silent Contours” series, Wu approaches the environment through a spiritual lens. Simple lines outline the skeletal structure of mountains and streams, while earth, stones, trees, and life itself become external shells—like cages—encasing these forms. Even when ravaged by typhoons, landslides, or human interference, these foundational lines preserve the spirit of nature. Through careful attention and intentional action, Wu reflects on the essence of the landscape and advocates for the protection of our environment’s core.
In the “Human Contours” series, Wu views the physical form through the lens of the soul. In ancient cosmologies, the soul was understood as the central bridge between humanity and the universe—communicated through the eyes. In the modern age of screens and digital illusions, everything subtly shapes and influences us. Bodily pressure and psychological distractions often bind us. Wu’s art invites us to return to our origins, to open our hearts with compassion and softness, and to rediscover our truest selves.
For Wu, art is a dialogue between nature and humanity. With a keen awareness of the present moment, he uses lines to trace the breath of human existence, translating thought into image. His vivid style crafts new perceptions that embrace difference and gently guide viewers back to a state of quiet simplicity and inner peace.
