The Key to Unlocking the Heart

In Chinese culture, deer have long held a special place—not only for their graceful appearance and gentle nature, but also for the rich symbolic meanings they embody. Artist Ran Hill has imbued this beloved creature with a new layer of meaning: to him, the Light Deer represents hope. No matter how difficult life becomes, gazing at the Light Deer reveals a strength that rises from deep within.
Interestingly, my first encounter with the Light Deer was through Ran Hill’s fan page. I was instantly moved. I not only shared the images on my own social media, but also saved several of the works to my phone, where I would revisit them repeatedly.
In each painting, the Light Deer appears in different sizes and positions—sometimes near, sometimes far—with ever-shifting poses. Yet one thing remains unchanged: the light. Whether wandering through the dark vastness of the cosmos or the poetic hush of a forest stream, the Light Deer is a symbol of the hope that resides in all of us. A beam of light, a healing light, an artistic light.
Whatever name we give it, the Light Deer speaks to the fractured hearts of our modern world. It carries a quiet beauty that soothes the soul—especially in times of chaos and uncertainty, reminding us to never stop seeking the “light” in our lives. I remember visiting the Light Deer exhibition in Taichung, where Ran Hill personally guided me through each work. Every piece reflected a different chapter of his life, and curiously, I found my own experiences mirrored in them too.
Ran Hill is a man of both tenderness and resilience. Though tall in stature, he possesses a childlike purity. His works not only radiate positive energy, but also offer a glimpse into his sensitive inner world.
We all need hope. And we must believe that hope is always there—just like the Light Deer, forever shining.

鹿，自古在中國文化中便佔有獨特地位，不僅是因外觀美麗、性格柔順，海至老師則再次賦予這受寵千年的動物另一番寓意：光鹿給我的感覺就是希望，不論人生在多麼艱難的時刻，凝視光鹿，都會看見從
内心深處湧現的力量。
說來有趣，第一次與光鹿的相識是在海至老師的粉絲團，當時我一看見光鹿就很有感觸，不但第一時間分享在自己的網頁上，幾幅作品甚至被我下載在手機中反覆欣賞。
光鹿在不同的畫中忽大忽小、忽遠忽近、姿態變化萬千，唯一不變的是那道光，不論在幽暗無垠的宇宙深處，還是潺潺如詩的流水林間，光鹿象徵的就是你我心中的希望，一束光，醫術光，藝術光。
怎麼稱呼光鹿都合理，牠對現代人破碎的心靈有治癒效果，也有藝術家賦予的美感，尤其是在紛亂無依的世代，我們都不能忘記要追尋生命中的「光」。我記得上回赴台中看光鹿展，海至老師熱心替我導覽，每幅光鹿作品代表的是他不同階段的人生體悟，而這樣剛巧的是，你我也能在這些作品中，找到屬於自己的人生體悟。
海至老師是一個柔軟與堅韌並存的男子，雖然人高馬大卻保有孩子般純粹的心，從他的作品中我們不但能吸收正能量，更能一窺海至老師敏銳的内心世界。
我們都需要希望，而且要相信希望永遠存在，如同那光鹿一般明亮。
